Quality assurance and development

By implementing a holistic quality management system – heiQUALITY – which encompasses all areas of performance, Heidelberg University has taken a decisive step towards a systemisation of quality management processes, and has hereby gained additional knowledge in regard to important quality aspects. The aim is to derive suitable measures for quality assurance and development in all of the university’s areas of activity.

Quality development at he faculty

he systematic review and further development of each study programme is based on a quality control loop, the so-called Q+process. This process acts as a regular screening, monitoring and evaluation process. A complete Q+cycle lasts about eight years. The (re-)accreditation of the degree programs also takes place as part of this process.

For successful quality development, the active participation of all employees working in the area of study and teaching as well as the students is indispensable. The subject councils and the study commission, in which all status groups can work together on the further development of the courses and the programme, are of particular importance. They are supported in this by the quality management officer of the faculty. The Dean of Studies is responsible for all aspects of study and teaching in the faculty.

Teaching Evaluations

Regular teaching evaluations are an important tool for quality assurance and development. In all programmes of our faculty the courses are evaluated at least every four semester. The results are discussed in the courses themselves, as well as in the subject councils and the study commission.
