Research

The Faculty of Humanities is characterised by a strong research orientation. It gains its special profile from the dynamic tension between disciplinary diversity and transdisciplinary collaborative research.

In joint projects such as the SFB 933 “Material Text Cultures” and in new structures, e.g. in the Heidelberg Centre for Transcultural Studies (HCTS), the Heidelberg Centre for Cultural Heritage (HCCH), the Centre for Asian and Transcultural Studies (CATS) and the Heidelberg Centre for the Environment (HCE), numerous networks are created within the university, especially with the Faculty of Modern Languages, the Faculty of Behavioural and Cultural Studies, the Faculty of Chemistry and Earth Sciences, and also with external partners such as the Heidelberg College for Jewish Studies (HfJS) and the Academy of Sciences and Humanities (HAW).

Detailed information on current research projects can be found on the websites of the individual facilities, seminars and institutes as well as on the collaborative projects' own pages.
